Brentford striker Ivan Toney has revealed his admiration for two strikers including Didier Drogba who retired from professional football some years ago. The Englishman talked about Didier Drogba in a press conference held on his first day in the England senior national team camp.
On Drogba, Toney said he liked the way the Ivorian football icon used his body to the advantage of his team while he was a professional footballer. He added that the Chelsea legend was very good in the air and his finishing was not bad.
New Three Lions of England invitee Toney has been amongst the goals for the Bees on a consistent basis this season. He has scored five goals in seven Premier League games to add to the his 12 Premier League goals from his debut season in the competition last term.
Toney started the new Premier League campaign with a goal and an assist as his Brentford side came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw at the home of Leicester City. He then made two assists as Brentford thrashed Manchester United in their second Premier League game of the season. Toney scored his second goal of the season during the 3-2 loss at the home of newly promoted team Fulham in the West London Derby. He didn’t score during the games against Crystal Palace and Everton before he responded with three goals to lead his team to a 5-2 home win over Leeds United during their sixth Premier League game of the season. Toney then failed to score in their last Premier League game on Sunday which ended in a 3-0 home loss to leaders Arsenal in a London Derby clash.
