DROGBA: LUKAKU WILL IMPROVE CHELSEA’S ATTACK

It looks like Chelsea legend Didier Drogba still cannot get over the fact that the Blues have wrapped up the signing of their former striker Romelu Lukaku this summer. The big Belgian striker has sealed his return to Stamford Bridge in some fine style after winning the Italian Serie A league title with Inter Milan last season and although it started as just a rumor this summer, he is now a Chelsea player once again and is hungry to succeed this time around. Lukaku joined the Blues when he was a teenager after being signed from Belgian league outfit Anderlecht but was not really given the chance to play for the first team and kept going out on loan.

He was first sent to West Bromwich Albion to spend one season on loan where he impressed after catching the eye of his suitors by scoring a couple of goals. A successful spell with the Baggies earned him a move to Everton but this time, it was not another loan move that was eventually turned into a permanent one after the Everton bosses confirmed that he would be a handy signing.

Didier Drogbahad attained legendary status by the time his first spell at Chelsea ended in 2012. He left Chelsea shortly after helping the club to fulfil its ambition of winning the UEFA Champions League. Few would have predicted the impact that Didier Drogba had in West London when he signed from Marseille in 2004. Chelsea paid around £24m to sign the Ivorian striker. In a chat with Sky Sports presenter Chris Kamara sometime ago, Chelsea kit man Garry Grey revealed a major superstition that Drogba had before games and how it worked well for him on the way to becoming a Blues legend.According to him, Drogba had a superstition that made him stuff his boots with newspaper.

PALACE JOIN VILLA IN ABRAHAM CHASE

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is attracting the interest of several Premier League teams during this summer’s transfer window. Abraham was frozen out of the Chelsea team by manager Thomas Tuchel in the second half of last season and he’s expected to leave the West London club this summer.

 

 

Abraham, 23, came through the ranks at Chelsea before he was sent on loan to clubs like Swansea City and Aston Villa. The England international returned to Chelsea from his loan spell at Villa two years ago to establish himself in the first team under former manager Frank Lampard. The Nigerian-born English striker has drawn comparison with Blues legend Didier Drogba due to his style of play.

Although the reports are yet to be confirmed, there are rumors that former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is currently working on obtaining his coaching badges and license as he looks to return to football but in a different position. Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has opened up on the impressive Champions League title win at the club nine years ago and the events that preceded it. Drogba was a key part of the Chelsea team that defeated Bayern Munich on penalties in the final to win the Champions League trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

DidierDrogbatalked extensively about the 2012 Champions League title win on his Twitter handle last week to celebrate its ninth year anniversary. The Ivorian football icon revealed how he told a young Juan Manuel Mata to help Chelsea win the Champions League title in February. In his response, the Manchester United midfielder replied the Blues legend that he was in a better position to win the competition for Chelsea. According to Drogba, he had been at the club for eight years and the best they could do is a runner-up spot to Premier League rivals Manchester United in 2008.

He was on target in the league game with Caronnese at the end of last month and he celebrated in style by using his father’s trademark celebration move.

Didier Drogba started his professional career at Le Mans in the French league and he had been at the club for three years before the Ivorian was handed a professional contract at the age of 21. At that stage, it had dawned on Didier Drogba that he had to buckle up or risk losing the opportunity to become a professional footballer. His breakthrough season at Le Mans saw him score seven goals in 30 games in what was his first campaign in the first team. In the following season, Didier Drogba didn’t perform well due to injuries and loss of form. In his third season withLe Mans first team, the Ivorian football icon returned to form with five goals in 21 appearances for his team.

He would move to Guingamp in the same French league midway through the 2001/02 season. Didier Drogba scored three times in 11 games as he helped Guingamp to avoid demotion to the lower leagues.

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has named Blues legend Didier Drogba as one of his toughest opponents during an illustrious playing career spanning almost two decades professionally. Silva spoke to the official website of Chelsea football club about the top ten toughest opponents that he has faced in his career and Didier Drogba was eighth on the list behind Liverpool player Roberto Firmino. Didier Drogba crossed paths with Thiago Silva a few times before the Ivorian football legend called time on his hugely successful football career some years ago. Didier Drogba was ahead of the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria on the list. Silva played with both Mbappe and Di Maria at French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) before he left the club last summer. Silva ended his association with PSG after his contract expired and he went on to sign for Chelsea as a free agent.

On his toughest opponent, Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi was unsurprisingly the recipient as named by Silva ahead of Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Messi and Ronaldo are widely regarded as the best two players of their generation and it is a little surprise that they are the top two toughest opponents faced by the Chelsea defender. Fellow Brazilian Neymar completes the top three for Thiago Silva, while Swedish football icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic came in at fourth place. The Brazilian duo of Adriano and Romario were in fifth and sixth place respectively according to the list of players mentioned by the Chelsea centre back.

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) star Kylian Mbappe has revealed his meeting with Didier Drogba at a young age. Kylian Mbappe wrote in a column for The Player’s Tribune on how he first met Chelsea legend Didier Drogba at a young age. According to him, he had visited London 11 years ago and that he was fortunate to meet Didier Drogba, who was at the peak of his powers back then. The Ivorian football legend took pictures with Kylian Mbapp eand he would later show his friends at his youth club AS Bondy. Kylian Mbappe said his friends didn’t believe him initially when he told them that he met Didier Drogba in London until he showed them proof via the pictures taken by his father.
