Cristiano Ronaldo has been a consistent source of goals since he returned to Manchester United this summer. The Portuguese attackerrecently matched the record of Didier Drogba as the oldest player to score a goal and an assist in the Premier League.
Ironically, Portuguese national team talisman Ronaldo achieved the feat against the same feat as Drogba. Ivorian football icon Didier Drogba achieved the aforementioned record of being the oldest goalscorer and assist provider against North London side Tottenham Hotspur seven years ago. Drogba achieved the record during the London Derby clash between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Ronaldo also did the same thing against Spurs. The Portuguese scored one of the goals on the way to a 3-0 away win over the North London side. Apart from Ronaldo, EdinsonCavani and Marcus Rashford were also on target.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players were under pressure ahead of the Spurs game. However, the pressure was relieved with the big win over their North London team on the final day of last month.
Ronaldo fired in the opener via the assist from Bruno Fernandes towards the end of the first half. The Portuguese attacker provided the assist for Uruguayan international Cavani to double the lead for the Red Devils in the second half, before England international Rashford came off the bench to score the third and final goal of the game.
The big win over Spurs ensured that Manchester United moved above their hosts on the league table. The Red Devils were unable to build on the win over Spurs in their next league game which ended in a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City. Eric Bailly (own goal) and Bernardo Silva were on target forManchester City away from home in the Manchester Derby.
