Merseyside giants Everton are reportedly keen on signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney between now and the end of this summer’s transfer window next week. This is according to the report from the stables of English publication Daily Mirror. Everton are keen to boost their attacking options in the current transfer window and Toney as emerged as a target. The Brentfordstar has been compared to Didier Drogba on several occasions. The former Newcastle United player is not the only one to draw comparison to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba till date. Some other strikers who have been compared to Drogba in the past include Victor Osimhen (Napoli), RomeluLukaku (Inter Milan) and Moussa Dembele (Lyon).
Everton are short in attack at the moment with Richarlison gone and England international Dominic Calvert-Lewin injured thus leaving Venezuelan star Salomon Rondon as the only fit senior striker at Goodison Park.
In the race to sign Toney, Everton could face competition from fellow Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea who are both in the market for a new striker. Brentford are said to be bracing themselves up for an approach from clubs for Toney who has one goal and three assists in three league games this summer. He was strongly linked with former team Newcastle United at the start of the current transfer window.
West London giants Chelsea might turn their focus on Toney if they are unable to sign Pierre-EmerickAubameyang from Barcelona. Also, Manchester United could make a move for the Englishman with manager Erik Ten Hag keen to sign a striker amidst the rumours over the long-term future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
