Former Chelsea star Didier Drogba has heaped praise on Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah after he broke his Premier League scoring record. The Egypt international recently netted his 30th league goal for the Reds in his debut season and he therefore became the highest scoring African Player in a single Premier League campaign, surpassing the 29 goals amassed by Drogba during the 2009/10 season.
Salah has been simply sensational during his maiden campaign with the Reds and his form has already associated him with a possible move to Real Madrid in the summer. Despite this, Salah has re-iterated that he had always envisaged his dream of playing for Liverpool and has no plans of leaving the club in the near future.
The Egyptian is currently on course to win the Golden Boot ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane but he could eclipse another record before the close of the campaign. The forward is presently just four goals shy of Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s 34-goal record for a single Premier League season and he has an opportunity of bettering the feat in his final three league games.
Prior to that, Salah and his Liverpool team have a Champions League semi-final tie against AS Roma to look forward to, and they should be favourites to beat the Giallorossi considering the form of their attacking trident. The trio of Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah have netted more than 75 goals between them and they should pose a difficult challenge for the opposition defence.
