Apart from Crystal Palace, the other teams interested in the new Didier Drogba include West Ham United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

Dieng, 21, has four goals in 14 appearances on the French Ligue 1 scene this season. He has become a regular in the Marseille team this season in comparison to last season when the Senegalese striker played just five times in the league throughout last season.

Any possible move for Dieng could be impacted by his participation at the ongoing AFCON tournament on Cameroonian soil. He was named as part of the 28-man Senegal squad for the tournament. The Marseille striker played for the first time at the AFCON tournament when he came on as a second half substitute during the Group B clash with Malawi as Senegal tried to break the deadlock. In the end, the new Didier Drogba could not affect the game as both Senegal and underdogs Malawi had to settle for a goalless affair.

Senegal are still waiting for their first AFCON title and the current crop of players would be hoping to build on the record from the last edition in Egypt. Senegal came close to winning the last edition only for them to lose out on the title to Algeria. The Senegalese players have not been flawless after their campaign in Group ended, but they still emerged as group winners ahead of Guinea and Malawi. Malawi finished third in the group and they have been guaranteed a place in the next round. Zimbabwe finished fourth and last in the group.
